I'm trying to set the timing on my amphicar. I found a small "hole" in the crankshaft pulley, and I put a little dot of white paint there on the edge of the pulley. I ran the timing light and, standing on the distributor side of the car peering down at the pulley, the paint shows up about an inch further away from me than the little metal pointer. Isn't it suppose to be 'on my side' of the pointer? The manual says 9/16" but I can't figure out what side of the pointer they mean. Thanks!
