I just purchased a new water pump assembly form British Parts
NW in Dayton, Oregon. ($56 plus shipping) This is the bearing
assembly and pulley. They told me to have an autoparts store
match up the old Thermostat. I have tested it in hot water and I
need a new one.

NAPA number is 170 (54MM) 180 degree. It fits the base but is
about 1/4'" to tall and hits the domed cover. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

TC

Another option...it is a very simple matter to go to your local hardware
store (with your thermostat cover and the sending unit), and find a
brass fitting that will allow you to mount the sending unit on top of
your thermostat. You may have to ream out the fitting with a drill to
ensure water flow around the sending unit, but it works quite nicely. I
can take a picture of mine and post it to Yahoo if anyone is interested.

Thanks
