Well one theng lead to another this weekend and it looks like I'm going to be
doing alot more work on the car then I was planning this winter. It all started
with claening the bilge. Isn't that were the truble usually starts... After
removing the interior and cleaning the most god forsaken 40 year old muck from
the lower intestines of my poor Amphi I desited it was hi time to get busy on
the new muffler and the rust in the batter tray area. Well As usual one thing
leade to another and now my engine in on a stand so I can get it done right. I
found extensive lower quarter rust that was filled in with bondo by a preivous
owner. The drivers side is not to bad but the passenger side will need some real
attenchion. Sence I'n going to be welding in Lower quarters now I'm thinking of
striping the trim and painting it right. The previous owner did a very sloppy
job on his attempt. I figure while I'm at it I'll disasemble the enging hot tank
and repaint it too. My tranny seems to be i
n good shape with no leaks. Is there anything I should be thinking about doing
to the transmition while I have good access to it? The axles and props don't
seem to leak and my transmition has good clean fluids with no evidence of leaks.
Should I leave well enough alown? I'm going to need to do breaks soon but
thought I'd wait tell the rest of the car is back together and address the
suspention at the same time. Thanks god for long Alaskan winters ;-) I'm going
to need it to be water ready by spring.
