We all love synthetic oils but I will never put it in any of my Amphi
engines. This is mainly because I don't need leak problems that I don't
have now. The stuff will simply find leaks in old equipment. It's almost
too good. Also, what's wrong with the good old regular stuff that's helped
our cars make it this far. Most of us keep our oil changed more than
necessary anyway since these cars are so collectible and old. We all love
Amsoil for our transmissions but if your land/water trannys leak oil from
one to the other it's probably the synthetic oil allowing this to happen.
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Mike, Chris and Kids

I tend to sher with Dave d. That simply bypasing the oil cooler and running
synthetic is probably the way to go. Oil has improved a lot since 1962. In
recent years many high performance cars have eliminated the oil cooler to
save weight. What enabled them to do so was simply using Mobil 1 as the
factory fill.
