In a few hours the first visitors to Daves' World will arrive. Even with
less than perfect weather attendance is growing. A lot of "firsts" will
happen tomorrow. My California car is looking good. Please visit my site
at midwestamphicar.com . I hope to swim it tomorrow, first time since
1974. I broke all rules. I ended up putting almost 10 hours into car.

The smaller swim ins are the best. I was freakin' out and was not going
to go the two hours away because of work. Then at last minute headed
out. I was cranky as hell even after arrival. Lake was beautiful as was
view across from our campsite. We are messing around when all head down
highway. Iam bit#%ing about taking road when belt smokes up. I boil over
quicker than the car. All I wanted to do was sit in a darn lawn chair! I
put belt kind of on and mutter on. The big amp has been the culprit of a
lot of trouble but I never wanted to admit it. I head back to camp when
Nick pulls me over, Iam still grumbling as we put on replacement belt
and cut out the problem amp. We ended up having one of the best times. I
kept on looking at raised lips and body lines. Comparing finally Tom
yells its just a boat!! Got back and hit work hard with a clear head,
smiling about what a great group of friends we now have because of the
Amphicar. Viva Celina! Dave the Wave

Swim in started with pick up at airport. You got to love small airports.
Nine Amphicars illegally park in front of terminal entrance. Try that at
O'Scare International. After picking up Grand Pa Wave we jumped in river
seconds away. Odd drop off on ramp caused damage to some cars, really
bent the snot out of Dougs rear tray and bumper. Not a scratch on My
bumperettes-still on shelf in garage. A pleasant Spring rain stayed with
us till Saturday., which was perfect. Tom Jones was getting to much
attention being towed so I ran out of gas, with just enough reserve to
drive out. Cap'n John Bevins did the tow while Still Alive Vondracek
poured in a gallon of fuel. Union Street did a great job of serving us.
At some point Parsons and Riener played bumper boats. Smashed up Dougs
front bumper and did comparatively little damage to Chucks rear quarter.
Cruiser Dog decided right then what material he preferred in restoring
his car. I had best time with "algae" (L.G.) and soon to swim Jack
Moreau from Louisiana. They took advantage of Cigar Guys jackets so we
were looking "smooth", Like Munch man says. In a terribly rigged car
show, BW2 took home trophy. Night temps dropped to really friggin cold
and with additional rear seats I could not put up top. Son Mike is still
fighting sore throat. Rental kids insurance won't cover stitches.
Finished getting cars back Monday and sat with Dee and Becky for few
hours. A few things occured with people, food lines, rv owners, other
motels, campground owners and restaurant owners. And since it was "My
event" I had to be notified of all crap. After last year it really was
no longer My swim in. It has become its own entity. So I have absolutely
no desire to run next years event. I still need to apologise to and also
Thank the Chateau Lodge management. Because of the natural beauty and
the warm hosts this event (Lord willing) will go on. All the ground
work has been laid. Even ending has now been "tweaked" . Karlas will
only be a pee and beer stop with dinner at Sams. But that too is in some
one elses hands and they can decide. I want to Thank everyone that came
out. Its a big expense and a lot of effort to come out and play. And
play we did. Later Dave the Wave.

A magazine emailed ,wanting to come to "Rock the Rock with The Wave"
,The official name of this years swim in. Looking at their web site I
found a very cool place I can not wait to try. It is an island with a
couple antique b&bs, 7 boat ramps, ultra cheap rv with electric camping,
boat rentals, its over a mile long, has two huge swimming areas one
crystal clear spring fed, one Mississipi water fed. Plus has atv trails
and near other great places to visit. We will be visiting soon. Maybe we
should reserve the whole island for a week end?! Larry thanks for
delightful updates really makes Winter suck a little more. I am ready
for play time in Mt.Dora!!! One more chiropractic visit and I should be
able to get back at it. Later Dave the Wave

Thanks for the feedback, Dave. All is not perfect, we
had a great time on Lake Havasu and really turned
heads driving around under the London Bridge and
pulling out on the shore, but the "free" stay at the
Ramada in Laughlin & the present stay at the
Circus-Circus campground in Las Vegas are making
purchasing Amphicar parts look like a low-cost, budget
hobby! Slot machines and craps tables are not are
friends. I figure I'm actually making money by
staying in to type this email.

Exceptionally pleased w/ the new shock mods and the
Diamondback Classic radials, though. Tires still look
new, the old Coker bias would be looking for
replacement already.
