A number of things can cause chatter, disk contamination or uneven

wear, deterioration of the springs in the old style pressure plate, a

loose or misaligned flywheel and a few other things too.

Unfortunatley ther is no way to look at these parts and be
sure they

will work smoothly when you put them together. +

Several years ago I had an original clutch that chattered so bad I

thought the tranny gears would break. After 2
"professional"

rebuilds, the chatter was just the same. This is one reason that I

designed the high performance clutch system which uses a moderm

diaphram style pressure plate, has a larger surface area and requires

no modification whatsoever to put in your Amphi. Changing out that

old clutch with a modern type is the only way to be
sure the thing

will be smooth. Being sure is a nice
thing because it sure is a pain

to change out a clutch once everything is back together. There are

almost 70 of them in service at this time.

to avoid

the "Clutch Chatter" you speak of. I assume its got to do with

applying the proper torque to the clutch assembly when putting it back

together? Perhaps someone would be kind enough
to explain what causes

it and and how to avoid it.
