Hello Willy,

What you have in that photo is an Amphi and a Triumph Spitfire engine
in it. There are many things on it that are Triumph and not Amphicar.
The carb. itself, the air cleaner doesn't connect to the cool air
side of the radiator, the distributor cap and the water pump housing
are all parts that were used on Spitfires and not Amphicars. I'm also
sure that you have a different exhaust manifold and J pipe to make the
connection to the muffler. The good news is that you might have a
1300 or 1500 engine in the car. There were more of those big engine
Spitfires built than the 1147 version. You can tell what it is by the
serial number stamped onto the top of the block.

All of the Triumph Spitfire engines used a similar block and can
easily be put into Amphicars. When I do it, I prefer to make it look
and function more like an original Amphicar installation but with the
power of the larger engines. You can see a photo of an installation in
one of my cars at:

I also switch the cars to negative ground and install Lucas
alternators though it's not necessary to do that when you switch
engines.
