Turns out the banging is "topping", not bottoming, of
the shocks over bumps. The Aldan gas shocks may
actually contribute to this problem as the gas shock
adds a gas spring force to the already stiff Amphicar
suspension, driving the shocks to full extension.

As we are travelling, I am still in need to "borrow"
front and rear springs which I will return as soon as
the new assemblies are installed. 2ea 3" od front
springs (for thru-hull shocks) and 2 ea 3-5/8" od rear
springs are needed. Please drop me a note.

TIA--LarryS

I also have this problem in the right front. When topping a small
incline, the body is pushed up in the air and it sounds as if the
wheel is off the ground as the shock tops out with a bang. Only on
the right side though, and good thing I am lazy and the car is
wedged in by the golf cart or I may have ripped the Aldan unit off
for a look-see at the factory under warranty.
Could it be that the shocks are not long enough travel-wise to fully
extend without making a sonic boom? Or it it that I am getting
airborn over these road moguls? I will keep tuned in for more on
this situation.
