SHIFTING TIP

Was giving an Amphicar ride on the street to a friend of mine who has
been into Ferrari?s and Porsche?s for a number of years. He noticed
that the shift to 2nd can be noisy. I was then told that we do indeed
have the Porsche type synchro rings ant that they do take a while to
warm up. When you are sitting at a red light or before you start out,
shift into 1st gear , then 2nd and then into neutral. (this will line
up the synchro rings) When the light turns green, the shift from 1st
gear to 2nd will be smooth because you have lined up the synchro rings
in advance. This does not mean we should be racing Ferrari?s at red
lights!!!!! Anyone care to comment?

I think that subject to other owners' comment, we may have found the next
helpful scrolling marquee text for the Club's webpage...It all sounds VERY
plausible, so thanks in advance!
