Seattle Opening Day 2009 - Saturday May 2

To those who have forgotten or haven't joined the Opening Day of Boating festivities before, we gather about 10:30 or 11:00am in the Gasworks Park parking lot to chat, brag and prep a bit before launching about noon at the public launch down the road. The 2009 theme is 'Wild Wild West'. Decorated boats (vehicles) are always appropriate!

They usually put Amphicars in the "Spirit Class", which is near the end, so we "mix it up with the big boyz" & cruise around Lake Union and the houseboats for a couple of hours before making the run through the Montlake Cut: lights on, honking and waving.

After circling around the north end logboom and heading back to the Stadium end, they let us be the first to make to ride back through the Cut to stay ahead of the massive boat traffic. That puts us back out 3:30 or 4:00pm.

The last few years the group has gathered at Ivar's Salmon House for a dinner afterwards. Very nice.
Hope to see you there, maybe we can set a new Amphicar attendance record!

Many thanks to Roger St John for doing the legwork!
