Seat Strips

I saw some discussion about seat mounting on this board a few days
back. I solved my seat sliding problem by making up two strips of
aluminum that are 12" long, 1.5" wide and 1/8" thick. Simply sliding
them under the front seat tracks before screwing it down. The strips
are about the same thickness as the adjuster pieces and run from just
behind the adjusters to the back of the track. The strips spread the
weight along the rubber mat and eliminate the problem of the tracks
tearing into the rubber when the seat is slid back. All it takes is
drilling one hole for the rear screw to go through. I put a photo of
the strips in the photo section in my album titles "1296 engine". I
bought the aluminum strip material from a local hardware store for
about $4 and it was enough for both sides plus some extra. It's a
perfect fix.
