In the spring 2001 edition of the magazine <u>Forbes FYI</u> there is an
article by Patrick Cooke, Executive Editor, "saluting the biggest design
misfires in automotive history. " Our beloved Amphicar is the example
used for the 1960's. Among other things, the Schwimmenwagen is termed
"the decade's daffy recreational vehicle," "a primitive creature created
to return to the primordial depths," and "neither a good car nor a good
boat." How about our president responding, telling him the number
that are still running or restored and inviting him to view our web
page and club membership? Perhaps ask him if he has checked the present
value of these "primitive creatures." You can read the article at
