To answer some questions members have sent me regarding the running problem, yes I did replace the coil as well as the distributor cap. Also I took the top of the carb off when it happened and it was full to the top with gas. The little accelerator tube squirted a good stream of gas too.

Tim -

It is definately a fuel starvation problem. You mention the fuel line
is not collapsing. Have you checked it's entire length? I had that
very problem. The year old line was softened by the modern fuel enough
that the vacuume of the fuel pump collapsed the line once it was warm
enough (remember, it runs right next to the heater hoses). Run a new
line (even temp for now) and see what happens. Route it so it's not
near the heater hoses. This problem even confounded 2 other local
wrenches too! I found it by changing the line in desperation of a fix.

Just because the bowl is full doesn't mean the floatvalve isn't clogged.
