I used a mini horn from JC Whitney for less than $10. Looking in the
current catalog, I think it must have been number 81__4699X for $9.95 where
the __ depends on the catalog you order from. As it had dual terminals, I
had no problems with the positive earth grounding of the Amphicar. You
can view a picture on my website http://www.amphicar.net/aboat2 under the
dirty secrets section. Just click on the thumbnail picture to enlarge the
picture. I have actually used this horn and it does make noise, but I
really wouldn't call it "extra loud".

into the original housing maybe from Napa, Autozone, Murrays or

I use a mini one from JC Whitney for about $8 or maybe 10 bucks by
now. Fits in the original housing after you remove all the old
original guts. See my dirty secrets page
<http://www.amphicar.net/aboat2/ourcar/index.html> and specifically
picture <http://www.amphicar.net/aboat2/ourcar/pics/newhorn.jpg> shows
it slid into the original housing.

I used a horn off a Honda motor cycle. An old 450 I think. Ray
