The following e-bay ad claims that this car can be converted to an amphibian.
Anyone ever heard of this?

"This "HARD TO FIND!" 1962 Renault Caravelle, is the prefect eye grabber!!
... This model has a option from a aftermarket distributor to change this car to
a amphibious convertible that can drive straight over a lake and come out on
the other side!! ... I do not have this option on it. I had seen this option
in a add form a news letter ..."

I think by "aftermarket distributor", he meant that there was a company
(i.e., a distributor) that made a kit to do the amphibious conversion. But, I'm
not sure as the first time I read it I read it the same way you did.

However, I think your conclusion (that he is mistaken) is most likely right.

Yes, it is right next to the $500 '53 'vette and Elvis' lost
Harley. ;)

I don't know where he pulled that from, but he is mistaken. If all
you needed was a different distributer to make it swim ... well I
need not even finish that one.

Oh wait! Is that what the guy did to the Geo to make it
Amphibious? ;) ;)
