I thought I would add my two cents worth to the registration talk on our
list. Here in Wisconsin I was able to do all my registration through the mail
for properly 32cents.
I bought my amphi in 95 from the widow of the original owner, The title was
original so all I had to do was transfer the title. I all ready had two
collector plates here in Wisconsin so I applied for my collector number
again. It only cost $43.00 for life.
The boat registration is $16.50 for three years. All done through the mail
for two 32 cent stamps. So I don't understand why you have such a hard time
in a state as big as California? One nation under God with Liberty and
Justice For All. ( my own opinion)

I agree, I've transferred over the years to several states and it's always
worked the same. I go in, hand them my title, explain that it's a boat too
and get the usual questions. Then I fill out a boat registration at the
same time which they stamp as "taxes paid". No need to pay taxes twice as I
already have paid them as a car. I then get my title and mail in the boat
registration. (with the exception of Illinois who makes you take out a loan
to pay for their usual tremendous taxes and fees and then sends it to you
two months later and says their quick). Gov. Ryan I guess wants to make
sure your check doesn't bounce so he gets his usual kick backs. What a
corrupt state!!! Heck, one car is still titled in Tn. where I haven't lived
for 6 years and it's still cheaper and easier. The don't even care that I
don't live there anymore.
