Rear seat room

stock.jpg one of the limitation or concerns with Amphicar is rear seat leg room. Has anybody ever made adjustment to this? I have seen that Disney has modified their cars back 3" on just the base cushion. My ruff estimate is a 6" rearward adjustment to the seat base front bulkhead and a 3" rearward modification to seat back could be made without crazy mods. Any thoughts? I'm hoping to complete before Florida swim-in, I might have a full crew onboard and no fun sitting sideways in the back.Disney.jpg

I see Paul Rasmussen posted a nice article on the Disney cars on Linked In today. Among many other modifications, they removed the convertible top frame to move the seat back 3". I guess that little bit of room does not come without sacrifice? We don't need a top anyway, right?

Actually, you might be able to move the seat back 3 inches and still keep the top. I don't think 3 inches would bother the frame but it would put a bit of a pinch on the area where the folded top lays. Doing such a thing would require some sheet metal work.

Makes sense. Remove top and push the seat back 18 inches! It would be great to see pictures of all the changes they made on those 8 cars.

In these pics, it looks like the leading edge of the seatcushion is about 2 ot 3 inches further back - that seems to be a function of moving back the side to side metal panel/seat support, brake lines & then cutting back the cushion. Wouldnt that work to provide at least some more knee room, without having to hassle with the seat-back spacing? - has anyone done this basic rear seat legroom mod?
