RE: Help with posting to the e-mail list

Ina:

I don't have your original rejected message, but I recall that the message
was rejected back to you from a Yahoo server. Somehow, your original email
was sent to the Yahoo domain, and Yahoo wouldn't allow the posting, so it
sent it back to you.

When mail is distributed by Mike Israel's ALD, it comes from
"adama.asmallorange.com ([64.22.96.42]". This is the server that distributes
all the email for all the hosted groups at a company call A Small Orange
(see their public site at http://www.asmallorange.com/ ). This company is a
private enterprise that provides web hosting for anyone who pays to set up
an account. There are probably very many little and big groups and clubs
that are based here.

As part of the package, A Small Orange sells an alias, because almost
everyone wants to give the impression that they are a big fish. Mike Israel
wants to have an address the reads amphicar770.com; it sounds nicer than
asmallorange.com .

The important thing is that your mail must be addressed exactly to the alias
than Mike bought. Try this. Next time you hit REPLY, look at the TO box and
see what is actually there. If it doesn't shoe
, then right click on the address, left click
on OUTLOOK PROPERTIES, and look at the email address box. This box again
must say , if it doesn't, especially if it
says something with Yahoo in it, it won't send the mail to the ALD.

Failing all else, try hitting REPLY, then select the address and delete it,
then manually type in the TO box. See if that
works.

Thanks for the note. Check what I sent again. I'm hitting 'reply' so it
should go directly to the new address. Look at what came back to me &
you'll see that it was sent to the one you suggested,
. I did send a note to Mike way back about my
posts not going into the group e-mail address. He said it had something to
do with my server which I can't see how that is. I'm sending this over to
you as I was thinking that we have 2 different e-mail groups? I didn't
think that we did but since I saw your notes these last 2 days I thought
that maybe we have 2 e-mail lists. Anyother info you can share would be
great. I don't understand why I can post if I go to the verizon web site &
not from my e-mail program. Anyway, have a great night. I guess it's early
for you way down there.(well, not so way down.) Ina

You sent the below email directly to me. However, I have no control or
influence over the Amphicar Lovers Digest (the ALD), which is controlled
completely by Mike Israel.

OTOH, I think I might see how you are confused. The message from Randy,
complaining about his signature, was posted to the ALD. The ALD properly
distributed it to you. You tried to reply to Randy, expecting the reply to
be posted on the ALD, where Randy would see it.

The problem is that, many months ago, Mike Israel changed the ALD host from
Yahoo to another host. When you post to the new ALD, you should use the
address of <mailto:>
, not the address of
<mailto:amphicar770@yahoo.com> amphicar770@yahoo.com .

The first address will send your email to the ALD for proper posting. The
second address is a dead-end, because Mike closed the Yahoo account when he
moved the list. Since the Yahoo server replied to you, rejecting your email,
it's clear that you sent the email to the old, closed Yahoo address. Repost
to the , and it should work for you.

I'm sending you the note that came back to me as undeliverable to our group
e-mail. I can't seem to post on this list or the Lover's list (Mike Israel
controls). Can you tell me what I have to do to post on this list? I use
Outlook Express from our PC & on my MAC laptop I use MAC mail (or whatever
the MAC uses). Thanks for your help. The only way I can get to posting is
to go into the verizon.net website & that's a pain. I'd like to just click
'reply' like normal people can do. Thanks again for all. Ina (in the Boro
in NJ)

Under "Miscellaneous Options" I have "Show your signature" checked.

Do I need to do something else? It used to show up, but now it

doesn't.

Thanks,

Randy
