Guys,

When I removed the front lenses of my amphi to clean I noticed that there is 2 lamps inside. One has a single filament and the other a double. The single one lights at the first stage of the light switch. The double lamp has one filament used for flashing light. Question, when the second filament is used?

That bulb was not standard in the original Amphicar parking light. The original had the small parking light bulb and an 1156 (equivalent) single filament larger bulb for the flasher. When Gordon Imports remanufactured the bulb holders they made wiring provisions to use dual bulbs as original or to use a single dual filament 1157 bulb, depending on how you hooked up the wiring harness. But to make the 1157 bulb work the bulb tab mounts had to be offset to match the 1157 bulb, so the single filament 1156 bulb no longer fits, therefore you only use the flasher (brighter) side of the dual filament bulb when in dual bulb mode. Good luck!
