Just wanted to say the Feb.2003 edition of Popular Science
page 66 mentions our beloved Amphicars as one of
"5 Classics in foreign innovation "
1961 Amphicar
Banned from the United States in 1968, Germany's tiny
convertible Amphicar slashed on roads, rivers and lakes
for several years. Using independent land and water
transmissions, front wheels for rudders and a 43-horse-
power engine, the Amphicar reached 7 miles per hour as
a boat and 70 miles per hour as a car.
Unfortunately they did not include any pictures.
