A report on the weekend event.
Friday. a few early arivals drove there Amphicars 1 1/2 hrs to Rays home in Fenllon Falls, Jeff followed in his truck with Amphi on Trailer'
Ray the lead the way to his Island retreat, a fairly large Island with a early Homestead type house on it where lunch was served, To our surprise it was Rays 70th birthday and cake and Icecream was had by all.Ray then lead the way to the Trent canal system where he had made arrangment for Amphicars to go threw a lock in the Town(Downtown)of Bobcagegen.I stayed back in lake till they were somewhat tyed up It was funny, they were sideways more than parallel.I then came in for a perfect docking. Some river cruzin was to follow before heading back to Orillia. Friday night cruzin is held in town so we all went to that,
Saturday, all met at my farm for greetings and pics, we have pics of 15 amphicars lined up.We were late leaving but made the microcar meet for lunch and saw some very interesting .$%%$???what ever they were cars.They the headed off on a road trip and our group headed for Bass Lake
(except Herb and I) back to my house for some last min. repairs, After meeting back up we went to Port of Orillia, swam up the lake and across to big chief Island and beyond, Coming out on othere side, Was getting late so Off to Jeffs for Dinner, After, Ron lead a few out to THE ROCKS, while more settled in then off to the Green River swimming till 9.30pm.Late eve, shannahands followed.
Sunday. the group reassembled at the farm and was agreed to 1 more swim so off we went again,It was after 5pm before the last group went on there way, Oh but were not done yet.
A new owner Jamie arrived and was instructed on his car, Ron And I, along with 1 of his boys got in Rons car and they were to come behind in theres to get first swim,As Ron headed down road he noted that hubcaps sqeek and I said we would put some tape on when we get back.. A block down the road and his rear hub,wheel etc, fell of with a big crash, scrape , slide bump. No brakes!!!! I turned the key of and we slid for 300 feet!! more$%^^%% and off I went to getr trailer. Got anothere Amphi and Tryed again , this time we made it. Another new Amphicar owner makes his first swim.
Ron and I spent the night fixing his car and he was off to NH at 9.30 am Monday!
I spent the next 2 days catching up on sleep!
