Odd-ness

I just received an eBay purchase of a June, 1961 (same as me!)
Mechanix Illustrated featuring the "NEW" Amphicar. It has some
pictures of an Amphi with the bilge exiting next to the exhaust and
the radiator shifted all the way to the right side with a tank of
sorts just ahead of that. The fan is visable thru the far right side
of the shroud pointing upward. The horn looks the same except the
horn cover comes to almost a point (Much like a bullet) in the back.
The body styling of the car appears to be normal and not like
the "Alligator" prototype was. Anybody seen one of these before? Was
it another prototype or just a very early production model?

John:
I'm not totally sure but I think that car was fitted with an Austin engine.
I think it was air cooled so your not looking at a radiator. I'm got some
write up on it somewhere which I'll try and fine.
Mike
