Hi all--anyone out there have any info on the high rise engine
compartment shown on the latest Amphicar Newsetter?
Was it a mod or factory option and what was the reason for it?
Also have some items on Ebay-Original Blaupunt radio, bilge blower
and control panel--thanks Ken

This was something the factory did for cars sold in Switzerland. It was
nicely done by the factory but is an obvious mod, it makes cleaning the
inner side of the rear fins very difficult. It's interesting but I think
looks ugly !

It was required because of a law about minimum freeboard of boats
registered in Switzerland (which has some of the toughest - and strangest -
laws in the world) and when loaded the Amphicar didn't meet the freeboard
requirement around the engine lid. Not many cars were produced like this,
probably no more than a dozen, I think there are two in the German Amphicar
club.
