New Parts

Heres a thread we can have some fun with.
That part, that just not available can be found in the weirdest places,
I was looking for a rubber for around the front turn signal lens(under the chrome.) looks like a black elastic band, and that would work for a while but would deteriate.
I was walking down store rows and spied a box of tennis balls with a black plastic lid, I looked the same size but was $ 5.00 then I got thinking this box is the same size as Pringles potato chips, so I went and bought some,
Sure enough its the same size, I cut the lid off leaving a 1/8 L around it,
Prefect fit and seals sides and bottom against the base gasket.. Great solution to a simple problem..
anyone else got some great find stores...Clubs welcome to use this in newsletter if they like
GORD.

I would caution you that there are many kinds of plastics. A plastic
intended for weather exposure on a vehicle has to be UV resistant, and the
lid of a food can is probably not formulated for that. You might get lucky,
or maybe 4 months from now, the plastic lid gasket has degraded to crumbly
debris. Before I would put a Pringles lid on a vehicle, I would nail a lid
to the back fence and check it a year later; if it's still flexible, you've
found a winner. If all you find is the nail, well, at least the Pringles
were good!

Good find!

In this day and age, I suspect it will get increasingly easier to find or have made parts for our cars. It's amazing what people can make in relatively small batches given a 3D model and a description of what it needs to do.

As you Know , over the years I have been a big seller of Interior kits and floor Rubber,(Rubber being made from oil Products ) has rissen in price
I use to sell all 5 pcs for $65.00 in 2002,Now my cost for a roll has been quoted at $1900 for 105 ft. Plus TAX. each kit uses over 6 ft, so do the math and then add time to make each kit, add some profit and Wow.
I was told it had to come from Georgia,
Any other leads on 6 ft wide groved rubber would be appreciated as I am now out of stock.
