Hi all,

I might have had an Amphi longer than any of
you. We purchased our 1967 in July 1967 when it
was 3 months old. It has 31000 miles now.

Then picked up a 1967 in 1973. It only has 13000
miles.

Bought and sold another 1967 around 1974.

Bought and sold number 4 around 1976. Although
#4 is titled to others, it still sits in my
garage with #1 and #2..

NO...NONE OF THESE ARE FOR SALE!!!!!

If anyone needs tips, I will do what I can. I
have gained much experience in the last 36
years!!

Re: Re: NEW member OLD owner!

Hi Nemo,

I have had my original Amphicar since it was 3
months old. Having used ir continually over the
last 36 years, I have little restore experience.
The most that I have had to do was repairs to
the rear lower quarter panels and then a new
paint job on the sides below the "chrome" strips
and the rear between the lights and below the
engine hood. (Did put on a new top from Gordons).

I did most of the work myself and then paid for
the final paint job done by a moonlighter. Not
expensive. Put maybe a thousand into it.

I am presently in the process of restoring
number 2. It basically needs the same as number
1 plus a little. Don't expect that to cost too
much. I already have the new top (again from
Gordons).

Sounds like your car has spent its time in
better areas of the US. If your rust is truly
minimal and your tranny & engine are sound, I
wouldn't expect it to break the bank to restore.

It would be best if you called Gordons with a
list of needsand see what he says and talk to
one of these other group members who have been
through the process recently.

Wish I could help you more.
