Greetings....I'm a new amphi owner since August and a new member to the
club and list since last month. I've been watching the dialog and
recognize some features on my car (for instance, it has a black crinkle
finish dash), but what is the 'lip' you've been referring to? What do the
black dash and lip indicate? Here are my numbers if it helps with
understanding the VIN vs Year discussion. It's titled as a '67.

chasis no: 106 522 302
Engine no: GK 1602 HE
Trans. no: v30 No.1220 C62

It looks to me that the wheels were made in '62.
I think this car has spent most of it's life in the Washington, DC area.
I bought from someone in the Mt. Vernon area who had it for 12 years
(never got around to restoring it). He purchased it from an individual in
D.C. It's now happily homed in Montgomery Village, Maryland, next to
Gaithersburg.

The "lips" refer to the metal at the bottom of the
sides of your car, below the doors. Notice how they
flare out a bit. Older cars did not have this flaring.
On the older cars it is a smooth edge with no flare,
or lip.

(no lip -- but lots of flare! Ha)
