I took the Amphicar around the block twice today with its fresh brand new rebuilt motor. Wow what a feeling. It runs great and is very quiet. Oh yea top was down, snow flakes were flying, temperature 18 degrees and it was cold! But it was big fun to drive it again after 14 months.
On another subject, does anyone know anything about GPS. What should I look for, what brand should I buy, how much should I spend and where should I buy it?

Garmin Etrex Vista is a great GPS for Amphicar, it is silver and black so
looks suitably retro. The size and shape are nice - like a cellphone. It is
waterproof and also has a separate static compass - the GPS based compass
doesn't work unless you are moving. It's a bit old now - I've had mine for
at least 3 years but that means there should be some good deals online.
There are GPS systems with colour screen but they loose features or cost
more. The Vista can be connected to a laptop or PDA to create a sat-nav
system.

Hi Tim,

I use the Garmin also and really recomend it. Mine is an older
Garmin GPS 3. I'm looking into upgrading to a newer model. I'm
looking at the various aircraft models as they seem to have better
back ground maps. My current model does not show the lakes I like to
use here in Alaska. Does anyone else have any thoughts on Garmin
back ground maps?
