John, welcome!
If you need a reference point to look at, I'm in Granite Bay, 45 minutes
east, and own a restored 64 Amphi. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I am new to this list and just wanted to let everyone
know who just got an Amphicar. Me! Yesterday I took delivery of a
white and red '64. It is going to be a long and hopefully rewarding
restoration, although I don't know where to start. I've been looking
at all of the web sites about this car and it looks like i'm in for
quite an adventure.

Hi John,
Welcome to the California branch of the Amphicar society. There are
several cars around that lake to the Northeast of Sacramento, another
one or two around the Bay region and a number of us in central and
Southern California. Several of us, down here at least, are newbies
to Amphicar ownership and are in the final stages of restoring their
cars. The gang down at Gordon's Imports are friendly and helpful too.
Feel free to ask about things you don't know. I, and others, are
sure to be of help.

Good Luck,
John Friese

John,

I am in the final stages of a 2 year restoration of an Ivory '64 as
well. If you ever need any detail shots or?, let me know I'll be glad
to help where I can.

Welcome to the Amphicar family. Owning and driving an Amphicar with
this group only compares to being in a large family. The reunions
are tremendous, especially the big one in Celina, Ohio. Soon after
taking delivery of an Amphicar it becomes your dependent, much like a
child, most owners grow with them through the years. The enjoyment
you'll receive while owning, driving and swimming these precision
machines has no comparison. We never knew what we were missing when
we didn't own ours and we would never think of letting ours go.
We've made many friends around the world and close by. The total
enthusiasm of this collection is world class.

Hello John,
Welcome to the California slice of Amphicar owners. I'm down in Santa
Barbara and am in the final stages of a rather complete restoration of
my first Amphicar. There are several of us around Southern Califoria
who are rather new to Amphi ownership and some others who are old
timers. Having done much of the work myself has been quite a learning
experience and a fun project. Feel free to ask me any questions you
might have and I'll help you as much as I can. Being fairly close to
Gordon Imports, I've spent quite a bit of time down there. They are
friendly folks and will be a big help to you. Restoring my White 67,
over the last 6 months, has been a fun (and sometimes
expensive) learning experience.
I have a brother in San Francisco and someday I hope to get my
Amphicar up his way. Perhaps we will get together then.

Have Fun,

John Friese

Welcome to our world! This club is very different from most. As a
rule I *never* join clubs of any kind. I have been invited to join
more than one in the Harley world. I find clubs to just be a pain and
sometime pretentious. This club is more like a bunch of friends with
the same affliction. No pressures and nobody is into the "Mine is
better than yours" mentality either.

A great example is a couple of weeks ago I casually mentioned
something about an original battey box, a few days later there is one
sitting on the porch! (MANY THANKS AGAIN!!!) I have had people from
across the nation stop by, my door is always open if you ride (rather
than just own) a Harley as well as any Amphibians! ;)

So welcome to the club! You have been warned! ;)

Wow, I never realized the list was this powerful. And
to think I have been spending money on parts all this
time.

Hmm, let me casually mention:
New or Rebuilt Transmissions
Nav Light
Fully Restored Late Model Amphi w/ low Miles

I have a large porch in front of my house. :)
