Neg ground and Alternators

Ok I have a battle plan now. My generator is not charging. I'm thinking
about going with the GM alternator conversion. That means neg ground too. I
have looked over the info on the web and I'm ready to take the plunge. Let
me know if anyone thinks I'm missing anything here. As far as I can tell to
convert to neg ground, or earth as Dave says, I will have to rewire the gas
gauge and my wipers may not return to normal. Any one got any input on the
wipers? Other then that I should be OK right? I think I can handle wiring up
the alternator. Does the engine electrical system need anything? I'm
guessing not.
Thanks, Craig
