Near Amphi Disaster

In preparation for the upcoming
4th of July Parade, I was giving
Amphi a bit of a tune-up when
suddenly gasoline sprayed me
and the engine compartment. It
caught fire but was contained to
the exhaust manifold and didn't
spread after I squeezed a rag over
the tiny blaze. Imagine if I had
been in the water giving rides to
some perfect stranger... Sheesh,
that could have been a disaster
of Biblical proportions. Knowing
the 40 year old carburetor has not
been rebuilt I was really beginning
to feel the stress of the upcoming
parade schedule. A quick call to
our heros at Gordon Imports and
the very next day I have a slick
new/rebuilt carb on my doorstep.
Installation took approximately
24 minutes and 11 seconds. Not
bad for thumbs & flipper guy like
me. Amphi once again purrs just
like a suckling kitten and I feel like
a real mechanic (well, sort of). I'm
sure happy the folks at Gordon's
are there for us... thanks Bob!
Going to have Red, White, & Blue
Amphis in our parade this year!!!
How patriotic my fine finned friends!

Be well, swim safe, & check your
carburetor for leaks.

PS - anyone know of a Jaguar XKE
Series 1 Coup (`63-`68) for sale
please contact me off list. I want to
surprise my Mermaid wife with her
dream car on our October Anniversary.

You were so lucky you didn't burn your baby up. Glad you were so
cool, calm and quick with those webbed appendages of yours, and
zoiks, if you had been on the water?
See you in Celina.

John:

Please, next time (forbid it), use a honkin big CO2 extinguisher instead of a
rag.
