I talked with my Dad and let him know we won't make Mt. Dora. He is
going and looking forward to seeing all of his new Amphi friends. I wish
we could of made it. So I decided not to work on customers cars today
and instead sand away on Brown Wonder. Soon to be a gray then red
wonder. Only allowing 2 hours per section. Sand it with a brick and
paint it with a broom!. Viva Spring Valley . Later Dave the Wave

Happy new years everyone,

What we should try and organize is a trip to the Rainbow springs one
afternoon in Mt dora it is approx 1 hour from Mt dora and it has a
crystal clear glass of water type river that is an all no wake zone
everyone rides down it in tire(tyre for Dave C.) tubes Amphi is also
allowed on it and it is the ultimate amphi adventure.
Something a little closer is the Mt. Dora Canal which is north of the
dock a few miles on lake taveres it is a canal approx 5 miles long or
so that is like a disney ride. gators and all kind of wildlife in a
40 foot wide canal.

Just a few options

Let me know if there is any intrest

Ouch. Good example of why the put lips on the rear quarters.

I will be leaving on Wed. March 20th. Will be taking 77 south to 95
to I-4 and stopping by my brothers house in Orlando (Winter Park). I
understand we are swimming together Friday all day. Are we meeting at
the show and what time?

Re: RE: Mt Dora

Hi:
Could you please provide me with information on that Mt. Dora event. I might
be interested in going as a spectator. Is there a web site that will provide
date, times and location.
Thanks

The subject of WAR has me very concerned up in CANADA
as am sure is with everyone anywhere, and am afraid this will
hinder the Mt Dora show if it starts this month.
But I am still making plans to Go ,But if WAR starts I do not think they
will let us cross the borders freely.?
The car I am taking (green 62 I restored last year, and has not been in the
water yet)
is in the shop getting last little touches.
I am planning on leaving around the 18th or 19th and heading over to ILL.
to stop at mid west amphi then head south from there.
I can bring large parts with me so if anyone along the route wants fenders
,doors etc, this would be the time to order them.or just a vist and list of
my parts and wares you can email me off line.(houseboats@encode.com)
Still have room for someone to join me for the trip to Mt dora In Florida.
For those of you that don,t know this is a must do Amphicar meet.
It is 30 miles north of Orlando.with all the things you can do there for the
week.
plenty of small inland fresh water lakes with good ramps.

It is a 3 day event
Friday is get together day getting very busy in the afternoon.most of the
large Antique wooden boats arrive and launch.and last year a bunch of us
drove the amphis out to local resurants for dinner.
Saturday is the main day ,Thosands of spectators.old racing boats.amphis in
and out all day
Amphi parade and splash in at 1pm.Antique boat flea maket and used boat
sales as well as a large in water boat display of beatifull wooden boat.the
town itself is closed off on main streets and becomes a antique market.
The locals (Dave Monier,1-352-726-4577 or Vic Nelson 1-386-228-2118)are
planning a main Dinner Sat night etc. they have booked a block of rooms
at,Inn on the Green, motel,But I think there all booked up by now.The whole
area books up for this event.but there always room in Orlando

sunday is whine down day with most people gone by 2 pm.which is a shame as
there are still lots of spectators and we came from so far to get there but
some have to work on monday or with me its back home to get the Houseboats
ready for my season that begins April 12th/

I have been coming to the show for 4 years and hope that War will not
happen so we all can enjoy it this year

Dear Gord: We were hoping to get to Mt Dora this year, but I called
down there for rooms and there is nothing even remotely close. I hate
to drive all the way down there and not be able to get to the rest of
the group. We are still not sure about going. Depends on the weather.
We have an open trailer. But I was wondering if anyone knows of a room
opening?

I just got off the phone with the Holiday Inn Express in Clermont.
Have still have rooms for the March 28th weekend. This Inn is
approximatley 25 miles from the boat show. It is also the place where
Hugh & Jeani Gordon will be staying. Ray Handloser

I have come down From Canada with my car's) 4 years in a row.
The whole event is a great Amphicar must do and the boat are a bit of a
bonus.
(only a bit) the town is a good draw for the other half, although mine has
not come during the event as she is not into Amphicars at all!She even got
sea sick just working on my houseboats at dock!
The only part I am NOT happy with is a $35.00 reg , fee.( I let Vic know
this early on )
since we do not take up dock space they could have at least made a better
price for use.
My polices at home is if the show charges I do not go.I believe we make the
show and if anything people should pay old car collectors to bring there
cars and the show people should charge the public not the owners.
Now I've open a big can of worm's,, haven't I.
Gord in my (warm shop) hey it might even reach 32 dg. today!

I have to agree about the 35 bucks. If it wasn't for the Captains
Party I would save my 35 bucks & just boat over from the west end &
stay off shore. Ray
