Yesterday was a milestone for me. I left work early for an
appointment. It got cancelled so I decided to take The Amphicar
Extraordinaire out for a ride. You see this is the 1st time I have
been able to drive it without anyone else there with me as the
controls weren't working properly yet. As of Sunday eveafter a
small "DOH!" fix the hand controls are now working as I designed
(hoped).
The Amphicar Extraordinaire and I went out to a small local lake for
a hour or so. It was about 60 degs, sunny skies and glass water, a
couple of hawks circled overhead. Just Amphi, myself and a lone
fisherman on the entire lake. Slowly I eased her into the water being
careful of the large rocks now close to the surface because of the
worst draught in 100 years. After a short cruise out to the center, I
placed the props into nuetral. Then I listened to the purring of her
engine and the water lapping on the front bumper. Great time to sit
back and relax while remembering the previous 2 1/2+ years of work
finally coming to fruition at that very moment. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
<heavy sigh>
