We dropped Amphi off at Midwest Amphicar last September on our way home from the 8,600 mile Boston trip as it was time for some seriously required rust repair and maintenance. After talking with some local body shops I came to the perhaps surprising conclusion that using a trusted, knowledgeable Amphicar resource such as Dave Derer would be physically and financially beneficial, even with return transport costs. That decision was correct.
I changed the depth of task and statement of work quite a bit as the program progressed and although I am sure he was irritated, Dave handled the adjustments easily and professionally. As with most jobs of this sort, we knew the apparent problems, but were uncertain of any underlying issues. He kept me apprised of where he was at, what he found, and the plan of attack.
Amphi has now just returned from the past 7 months in the Midwest Amphicar rust hospital (luxury spa?) under the tender care of Dr. Wave and I would like to report that her physical and mental condition are even better than expected!
Thank you Dr. Wave. We are looking forward to many more years of travel and Amphicar adventures!
