Anyone out there know of a good Amphicar for sale that has been
restored the right way, drives and floats good, priced within
reason, and may just need some tender loving care and cosmetic
work. I have looked on the Amphicar classifieds, eBay, and am not
sure I see what I want.

I would appreciate any feedback from you guys. There maybe someons
out there that is ready to let go of their vehicle. Will there be
any cars for sale at Celina?

Let me know.

Cruiserdog,

I've been riding herd on the Club Classifeds for nearly four years, and the
now-retired Amphicar.net Amphi-Bazaar classifieds pages before that for
about three years. The one thing I can assure you is that right now, NOT
July, is the time of year you are likeliest to get the best deal for your
money. Amphicars, like motorcycles, jetskis or edible dayglo bikinis are
creatures of the sun. Once those daffodils start rising upwards, so will
those prices. I guarantee it.

There are several VERY fairly priced Amphis, all turn-the-key and swim
rides, up for grabs on the Club Classifieds right this minute, including
several priced from the mid-teens to low twenties. Some have been up for
sale since about the end of the last sailing season for most of us, so there
may even be some wiggle room for haggling in some cases. By June or July,
most if not all of these bargains will have gone the way of last week's
snowmen.

If you have any doubts about how very reasonably priced the currently
available winter crop of Amphis really is, then use that 'Wayback" machine
at http://www.archive.org/ to check out the overall prices for swimmers in
last year's and the 2002's Classifieds at http://www.amphicar.com/ads.htm .
Do you see those "restoration projects" during the warmer months going for
about the asking cost of those actual swimmers right now in February? Good.

Frankly, I suspect that this latest crop is SO moderately priced that we
will likely not see the like again, even next winter, especially if the
economy perks up from its doldrums as the experts seem to be projecting. I
think a lot of long-time owners will agree that it's sort of "flukey" to see
some fairly sharp-looking swimmers in the teens again.

So, Happy Hunting!...Now go and memorize Mike Israel's 'Amphicar Buyers FAQ'
at http://www.carstrucksvans.com/amphicar/buyersfaq.htm and get on the case
before it's too late!

~Bilgey~
