Light Pole

Marty,

You are correct the wire on the end of the female holder connects to
a Negative Wire(example it goes to your fuse panel) the Positive
(which your body is on a positvie ground car) screws on the metal
holder piece. Usally I can't remember on mine but I am sure if you
look at Capt Johns Schematic's (plug Plug) you will see that the
switch has a wire going from the fuse box to the switch and then a
wire to the lights and this is what turns them on when the NEg
(voltage) makes contact with the Positive (ground)

If nothing else go to walmart and they have a marine pole flashlight
that will work

If you need more info call me 937-609-1591

Greetings All,
I'm assuming it's necessary to remove the lamp housing from the light
pole for rechroming. I've soaked it in PB rust eater for days and it
won't budge. I can't tell if they are pressed together or the pole is
threaded.
If anyone has had these apart, can you share your mode of seperation?
Many thanks in advance!

Hello Brian,
The light pole shaft unscrews (normal thread) from the lower housing.
Disconnect the wires from the lamp socket and remove the socket
before unthreading it though. I have two Amphicars and one has a
chromed lower housing and the other is a dull gray color. It seems
that most, if not all, other people have the dull gray lower housing.
Certainly that's what Hugh sells. I don't know about the history of
this piece but I like the chromed lower part better and have thought
about having it done too. When you put it back together, put the same
wire on the same terminals. If you don't, it will short out the
system and take out a fuse.
