The Interlaken is the main meeting spot for the Classic Car cruise
around Lake Geneva. At 9 am is the car show till 11. Then a cruise back
to Interlaken. Then the registration and the buying of poker hands. I
plan on traveling around lake ,playing out hand and hitting ramps as I
find them. Not to mention buzzing the antique boat show. I guarantee
there will be some awesome boats. Last year they estimated a thousand
cars cruising around. The reason for scouting other rooms is the
Interlaken started screwing people. They raised rates to 150 a night
with two night minimum. Later Dave
Brian Estermann went out and bird dogged the area. There is a ramp going
into Lake Delevan which is next to Interlaken. Where on Sunday all the
cars meet for awards. He said there is a great ramp in town where we can
have a great showing also. He said the water is clean and it was just
beautiful out there. For the fuel problem after shut off, On other
customer cars I have been installing the fuel magneto valve. Double
check your float and clean also. Later Dave the Wave
I just got back from Roger Sallee's shop down in the Ozarks. We
partnered up on finishing a 67,which Iam bringing to Detroit. It was
great meeting and working with his group. His metal fabricator really
enjoys his work. He showed me his shop.I realized I needed more cool
tools.Couldnt wait to get home and open the tool catalog. Weather will
cooperate with Lake Geneva today. My wipers work and I just dont care.
Some Amphis are already there. Sitters for boys are confirmed. Ive been
waking Margie since 4:45 this a.m.. Like a kid waiting for Santa,I am. I
want to go now!! See you in Geneva. Later Dave the Wave
Had a great time in Lake Geneva. Seemed like a week's worth in 2
days. It was fun sitting at the "adult table"(at breakfast) for a
change. Picked up the kids on the way home and remembered why we
went kidless. Nick asked if we couldn't just go back to Lake
Geneva. Since everyone had also gone home, it just wouldn't have
NOTE TO ALL AMPHICAR DRIVERS.....If Dave the Wave is ever looking for
a ride, open your door quickly and invite him in. He'll be sure to
try to claim the front seat now that he has experienced the cramped
(literally) conditions in the back. You'll laugh so hard you won't
be able to talk. (Nick liked that part)
We've had so much fun with other Amphicars and owners over the past 3
weeks, we hate the thought of winter storage (a.m. temp 44 today)and
no amphi get togethers.
Almost missed the tale of the big wave. We are all enjoying the
smoothness of Lake Geneva. Laughing, waving, picture taking. Then like
Jaws, A wave higher than an Amphicar creams Marty and Caryls car. We
tried to yell but it was too late. It is horrifying seeing the bottom of
an Amphi knowing there is kids in back. Then a quick second wave. The
Amphi was plunged in water. The wave crashing through their open
windows. In seconds it was over and Amphi popped to top and all was wet
but o.k.. Sunny Sunday. Patiently waiting for the sun to come up.
Gentle hits to Margies ribs. I feel like our dog June, scratching at
door to be left out. Finally out in Brown Wonder hit the lake car is
running smooth. We all head to town. A sandy beach we called our own
became our boat ramp. Waiting for everyone to meet we swam in and out.
What a great way to start a day. After breakfast we all headed across
lake. Tops down, sun shining. On other side we came up to a sandy area.
Others make it through the soft sand to road except one. Iam not saying
who stopped in front of me or who missed first gear. But I had to stop
and yup soft sand. In moments rear tires are sunk down to hull. Strange
how many people will stop their cars to take pictures of a beached
Amphi. This beach was a few feet from highway. A dozen or so people come
out to push. Wayne comes out in "Kathys Dream" and ties on . Together
Iam pulled and pushed into water. Rest of afternoon we screwed up
traffic as we all went in and out. Finally time to head back. We see the
water Nazi's . They power up and go after Steve. We swim around
wondering why. This is how baby sea lions must feel, when killer whales
attack. Show me your papers! Steve luckily had his papers confirming
that his boat numbers were paid for. The trip back was uneventful. As we
dried off our cars the crowd grew. We all had a great time and plan on
doing again next year. Iam working on a promotion with local motel. I
plan on getting a block of rooms. This motel has ramp directly in front.
If I can beat them up on price it should be great. Later Dave the Wave
Yes the group of Amphi's are growing. Forecast is warm and sunny. Easily
a dozen (or more) will be there. Its the fun of being able to drive
around and into lake. Plus thousands of cool cars all buzzing around
too. Meet at Pappa Corrys noon Saturday then head to boat show. Extra
parts list include a rotor, cap, condensor, starter, prop, and hull.
Remember last year I even had a spark plug wires go bad. We do not have
reservations any where. I figured we spent about 6 hours in a room that
cost 140 bucks. I will plug motor home into some where this year. Viva
Lake Geneva! Later Dave the Wave
Dave left out one important thing in his parts list: A good tow rope
(used to pull Amphicars out of the sand).

If you need a place to stay at Lake Geneva, there is an extra room
available. I believe at no charge. They are still calling for perfect
weather. I put on a Swedish carb. The Swedish carb has a valve to
prevent flooding when car is turned off. My shop is on its way for
expansion. 2/3 rds of concrete is poured. Looking forward to that since
there are cars in waiting. Later Dave the Wave
A picture perfect day in the midwest. Cool and Sunny. Looks like a home
run for Amphicars at Lake Geneva. If all show we should be over ten. I
am really looking forward to this. Maybe we might even put some effort
into it for next year! Later Dave the Wave
I know Eric, we really wanted to see everyone again too. Pencil us in for
next year. We would have had alot of fun. Too much going on at home. I
also came down with a nasty throat and chest cold. Glad you and Nick had
fun. Will you be posting any photo's? I can usually rely on you for a few

Hey! what a good time. I have had my Amphi since 1995. Never really got
together with any other Amphinuts be 4. I have a whole new respect for our
I never thought these things would do what they can do on the public beach in
downtown Lake Geneva. Who would have thought you can put these cars into
gear on the beach and still use the props. What a rush . My own mermaid
(Lori) or should i call her a saint was less than impressed when we ended up
45 degress to the water with bow pointed at the moon, She said this is not
good, Is it? My repley, not sure let's just ride it out. What a hoot!
Next year let's plan something. We did good this year, with little
planning. I am game to make the arrangementrs for next year. Oh Dave, Lori
sez no you can not borrow her Camaro, she likes it just the whay it is...the
way it was when she bought it new in 1979.
Nikolai and I drove up this morning. What a great day. I've never
driven up onto a beach before. Just boat ramps. Godd company and
great weather. Just loved driving along the beach with the props and
wheels both going ... big rooster tail of spray....
You missed a good one Mike!!!!

<font FACE="arial, helvetica"><font SIZE="2">Last weekend we had nine amphicars show up At Lake Geneva. This was the first event I attended since joining the club a few months ago. The weekend was a blast.
The highlight of the weekend was crashing the party at the antique boat show. We should plan a regional event for next year at the same time the boat show is held. There is also a car cruise and car show on the same weekend. Those of us with Amphicars can attend both events! Count me in for any planning that needs to be done.
