Intermittent fuel problem solved

Midwest Amphicar

This was first season for our fabulous 63. In less than 60 days car went from 20 years of sitting and rusting to running and floating. Had some intermittent problems acted like vapor lock. Still ran good for Sabula. Next event drove Amphi many miles but a couple of times would act like running out of gas. But then ran rest of day. Ran near perfect all week end for Ozarks. Then back home ran bad.Grrrr. Crazy perfect weather here and need to use Amphi. Decided to replace carb. Which peed Me off (it was like giving up). I pull carb apart . Somewhere along the line the little tab that rides on float and hits needle and seat was upside down. What pleasant Halloween we had on river. Later Dave the Wave

Dave,
Thanks again for the use of the trailer yesterday, all went well! The license plate was dangling and I had nothing to fix it. Put some steel nuts and bolts w/lock washer on the license plate frame, I used nylon and lost a plate once. the steel digs into both sides..

As far as the carb situation. Always use my motto If you (yourself) don't check it, it ain't good. Over 40 years of these cars being worked on by anybody, I'm sure that a bunch of things on many cars are upside down. Thats why I always call you to double check stuff I'm not 100% on, just to be sure...

Thanks, Cigarman

Dave - It always seems that it's the small details that you overlook that come back to haunt you. Usually they would have been an easy fix at the time, but overlooked they become a real pain in the a$$.

I wish I could just see my Amphi let alone drive it! Halloween was very warm and the kids were cute, but being stuck in this place is hell already so no need to pretend.
