OK, I think maybe it would be a good idea to get insurance.

1 - What company do you use?
2 - Did they make you get a seperate marine policy and what is
covered?
3 - Have your claims been taken care of promptly and fairly?

Dear John, I use Haggerty and am very pleased. I have 7 cars with them and
have had 2 claims . They were very prompt and generous . I also have a marine

Here is a re-post of an insurance email from last year....

You may have good or even better luck with someone else, but do at least
give Hagerty a call so you can compare.
They have a separate marine policy.
As for claims....well, I only have had one. A stone chip in the windshield.
They had no problem whatsoever....no deductible....no delay....no increase
in premiums. As eBay folks would say...."AAAA++++ transaction."

I of course have no relationship with them....just a happy customer. But
heck, they made buttons for everyone in Celina the last two years!

II just found out last week and returned to State Farm for Amphi Insurance.
They charge about $350/ six months but allow you to just pay for the comp
during the winter months - providing you aren't ddriving it during the
winter of course which I am not. Still, there might be better deals out
there and if you hear of any let me know. Whats wrong with the hagerty
group? Don't they like money? Take care, Sid

I may be the only one not with Haggerty. Do you have
State Farm in Alaska? I have been with them for at
least 15 years(only 1 with the Amphi). Believe it or
not, with their Antique Auto policy, where you specify
the value of the vehicle, the Amphi is also covered
for physical damage and liablility in the water with
no seperate boat policy. It took about a week for my
agent to get the answer from the higher-ups in State
Farm because the question never came up
before(surprise). Answer- as long as the vehicle isn't
driven more than 2500 miles annually, the policy
covers land and water perils. I asked and received a
letter to that affect just in case I have some mishap
on the water. Because my other cars are with them the
total policy on the Amphi is about $80 for six months
which for Michigan insurance is a bargain. I have
never had a claim for the Amphi but have for other
vehicles and they were very prompt. Sounds like I'm in
the minority but when I called Haggerty, they gave me
someone who never heard of Amphicar and couldn't
answer my questions so I went elsewhere.

they told me they will insure amphi-cars. I use Hagerty and am happy with

I just got a quote from Hagerty for my Amphi. I was pleasantly surprised to see
them quote a cost of $89/year for general land coverage, plus an additional
$40/year for extending coverage to water use. The rep who replied to my inquiry
was very courteous and was totally knowledgeable about Amphicars.

Of course, there are the usual restrictions about usage, miles driven, driver
history, etc. But, compared to what Allstate is charging me for my other auto
coverage, $129/year seems like a bargain.

Well, I checked my USAA insurance against the posted Hagerty's quote
in yesterday's digest of $179. I'm paying $400 a year from USAA. BUT
Hagerty's isn't available in South Carolina. Too Bad.
