Cutting out is not first step. Amount of rust and prior damage need to
be taken into account. Put doors back on and check for proper fit. If
they have proper gap tack on some braces. Rough cut raised lip rust
out. Try to leave drop offs and other inner metal. Now take My raised
lip quarter panel and install with a few self taping sheet metal screws.
Using exsiting drop offs etc as a guide. Then You need to trim My
beautiful replacement quarter. Once you have that adjusted mark top
line. I draw arrows on car for easy guide marks for reinstalling.
Best to be on solid blocks or wheels. Regular tires will give You
inaccurate numbers. Pick out and mark top of fin rear bumper edge. etc.
measure to ground. write these numbers on car where You took
measurement. Now You can remove rest of quarter. trays and drop offs.
Depending on rust the more You cut out the more car can drop. No one
tool is the best. Some really like the plasma cutter for various
personnal reasons it is not My first choice. I use small and large cut
off wheels, the body shop style reciprocating saw is really nice too. I
use a lot of flap disks too. Wear a proffesional style paint mask. The
airborne grinding residue is probably worse than paint. Key is trial
fit, slow way down, there are no short cuts for getting parts to fit. No
two Amphi cars are the same, so You will need to trim parts as needed.
When it is weld time skip the coffee.,turn off Ted Nugent, un plug the
phone and find Your happy place. Figure about an hour a foot. This seams
to be a fairly usable estimate number. Feel free to call Me with
questions. Later Dave the why the hell did'nt I hit the river this week
