I know someone out there has repainted their hull. What type of
paint does a person look for, it looks as if it is a flat or eggshell
finish maybe just dull from age. There is some spots that have
surface rust from being stored.
Thanks Mike Bayman

Paul, I believe Mike wanted to know (and I do too) as to what the final
finish on the underside is to look like. i.e. black gloss, semi gloss, satin
or flat black finish.
Thanks, Chuck

Re: Re: hull paint

Hello
Basecoat, goes on dull...and clear coat goes on high gloss. When the clear
coat is put on...you can put as many coats as you like, the more coats the
deeper the shine. The paint is real strong and seals the car very well.
Paul

Re: Re: hull paint

Hi everybody!
In my experience with Amphicars, since 1965, semi-gloss black has
always been the rule. If you're going to use the base coat-clear coat
system you'll need to add a matting agent to the clear. This allows you
to control the gloss of the clear coat. Remember, paint manufacturer's
instructions should be followed closely. Usually, clearcoats are
applied in 2 or 3 coats, especially when using the "new" urethane
coatings. There are also several quality issues, some are just plain
better than others! "You get what you pay for".
Gary.
