Ross:

In reply to your posting about Schwimmwagens below, the folks in the
Amphicar Club Berlin e.V. (the German Amphicar Club, see
http://www.amphicar.net/Germany/) are likely to have lots more contact with
owners of those Porsche/VW Type 128 and 166 Schwimmwagens than folks this
side of the Atlantic. One of their Club luminaries (who is also the
webmaster of their aforementioned club site) is Rene Pohl, author of _Mit
dem Auto baden gehen_, arguably the most comprehensive and best illustrated
history of amphibious vehicles ever written, albeit in German.

Rene also runs another great English-language website dedicated to
non-Amphicar amphibians, including the "Schwimmwagen" at
http://www.schwimmauto.de/.

You might also find Hans Rosloot's "Source of Amphibious Vehicle
Information" site over at http://www.d-w-e.nl/amphibious/ interesting,
particularly his free classifieds.

Speaking of free classifieds, you might want to go to over to Amphicar.net's
"Amphi-Bazaar" at http://www.amphicar.net/bazaar.html and click the links in
its second paragraph for the French language classifieds and the
accompanying "Englsih-translation" link. These "Annonce(s) pour les
v?hicules amphibies" often contain Schwimmwagen stuff.

Lastly, from the Amphicar.net Library Catalog (see
http://www.amphicar.net/library.html), I have attached the results of a
search for items concerning the Schwimmwagen far below.

With Regards,
~Bilgemaster~

Does any of your group ever get into Schwimmwagens? Are they worthwhile
restoring? are they available?
