Hot Dog here we go

So this is when the fun begins.
Amphicar's new forum. New and improved forum. I think were gonna grow to love it. And it won't take long.
I'm not a computer guy to much at all. So when I wanted to post some Christmas Amphi pictures in the old forum I found it was more effort than I had the desirer or ability to post. Besides I thought no one was ever going to see them anyhow off in some file somewhere.
Anyhow there should be some Amphi pictures. If I can do this any of you can.
See you in Mt. Dora, Tommy in Tampa

This e-mail came through reading "Okay, lets give this a test spin" or
something like that and a small red X which I think maybe there should have been a
picture. Did others out there get this same "red X" ? In any event, why and
what does it mean and what should have come up there ? Vic in Florida

That is where an emoticon (like a smiley face) was placed in the message. For some reason, unknown at this time, those do not always get carried over in the emails and wind up being translated into the little "x" symbol you saw.

What do those Xs mean, anyway?

I didn't get a red X or a black X or any color X in this note. I usually get Xs in the notes & don't know what they mean. Sometimes I click on them but don't remember if it just takes me to the web site or nothing happens. What do these Xs mean? They usually come in a little box. Thanks for the info. Ina (in the Boro)

Sorry, just read this note about those Xs. Something is wrong with my e-mail & all of the Amphicar mail is going into my Bulk (of junk) mail. It's a real drag as I have to check the bulk mail constantly & then send Amphicar mail over to my in-box. Supposidly if I send stuff over to my in-box it should stop going into my bulk box.

Glad to know I'm not missing anything in those little boxes with the red Xs. I thought someone was putting a picture out & I just wasn't getting it. Ina (still in the Boro)

A Question. I am quite puzzled though this computer jargon can easily be a
puzzle to me. Ed Price sent to Ken and starting with "In the QUICK REPLY box
....etc." The Subject was listed as General Amphicar Discussion-t-4604 RE:
starting new thread.

On Jan 17th, today, I sent a reply asking if Ed or someone can explain why
down at the bottom of that e-mail just above Ed Price's name and "Rust Guppy"
there appeared a small red X which gave me the impression that there should
have been a picture or something come up there where the red X appeared.
Anyway, only a few minutes later now, I see my message posted, but rewritten
somewhat and with the date sent shown to be Jan 14th ( which is 3 days ago and I
just sent it today the 17th a few minutes ago.)

So anyway, the question of why the red X still remains, but what can the
explanation be for my
e-mail sent a few minutes ago on Jan 17th coming out in slightly abbreviated
and rewritten form and showing the date that I sent it as Jan 14th. I am
sure there is a simple explanation to both of these puzzles, but I am at a loss
to know how today's message showed up only a few minutes after I sent it but
dated as if I had sent it 3 days earlier.

The red "X" could have appeared when I tried unsuccessfully to attach a picture to the post. I found out the image was larger than 96kb and it got scrubbed off.

Sound right Mike?

The little red x's are nothing more than emoticons (smiley faces, frown faces, etc.) that for some reason are not getting through email. I expect an update to the email link software soon so hopefully just a temporary annoyance.

Larger pics can be posted in the Gallery where they are automatically resized. Reason for resizing is simply bandwidth and disc space.
