Help identify mystery parts...

Good Day all,

I am going through the various boxes of parts associated with my Amphicar now that it has left for the body shop. There are two items, images below, that I am unable to identify. One is a lever and corresponding mount bracket, and one is a knob (maybe the shift knob?). I'd be appreciative for some help identifying these items...

That is probably a generic knob, maybe vintage, that works on either the land or water shift levers. Funny, but I also have one that looks like that in a box of parts that came with my Amphicar. Now replaced with the ivory knobs.

The lever is for front seat adjustment. A stiff wire (like a length of piano or welding wire) runs between the left side lever catch straight across to the right side catch lifting a pawl the locks the seat in place.

Thank you Ken. I had figured that the black knob was likely being used as the shift knob, but it was not attached to the car therefore I had no idea what it was for.

If you have a chance, could you please supply an image of the seat adjustment locking pawls? I suspect there are missing parts I need to identify and order.

Thanks again...

Appears you have both sides of the seat adjustment mechanisms. Just need to add a wire connecting the two together so when the driver side lever is pushed down the pawls on both sides work together. They engage in notches on the seat frame. They mount between the front of seat slider tracks and the rubber mat. Two bolts through the two front holes in the front of the tracks, through the adjusters and floor board and into the threaded holes in the floor metal. Low profile head bolts are necessary so the seat tracks can pass over the bolt heads. Same bolts as used on the prop shaft transmission side.

Hello Ken,

Thanks for the image. This is helpful. I am a member of IAOC and have downloaded both the Maintenance and Parts Manuals although apparently missed this. This also makes me suspicious that I may not have the seat tracks. The seat is currently out and buried under other parts; I will need to check and see if the tracks are attached to the bottom of the seat frame.
