Have you tried Facebook?

At the requests from a couple friends of mine, I registered with Facebook. In the last 3 days I have now 46 "friends" there. I didn't think I'd like it but I do! Found many Amphi-friends, family, former co-workers (when I was a Tech writer/designer/intranet web development), and others (even friend I went to 5th grade with!). It's pretty cool how it all works.

A great way for some of us to connect.:dft003:

I set up a facebook account a few months ago, and have found it to be enjoyable.
The only complaint is, maybe I could have found some way to create two accounts, that way I could keep "friends" and "family" separate from each other. :dft012:

Anyone else on here using Facebook? Another car club I belong to set up an account for the club. IAOC should do that. Probably kind of redundant with this list and forum though.

I must be old in that I dislike Facebook. I tried it but found I really could care less about knowing that "Jim is driving home in traffic", "Jim is drinking a deliciojus Starbucks Coffee", etc.

That said, I realize it is a very popular platform for social networking. For that reason, this weekend I will be installing a facebook connector on the Amphicar forums. It will enable the following:
=================================
Benefits of Facebook Connect
  • Users can simply login with their Facebook account without going through the registration process.
  • Increase user interaction and your traffic through Facebook notifications and news-feeds!
Features
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
  • There is a reply to their thread or a thread that they're subscribing to
  • They receive a new PM
News-Feed will be published on to the user's wall when the user:
  • Logs in for the first time
  • Replies to a thread
  • Creates a new thread
Fetch user data from Facebook
Fetch data like name, location, profile picture and use it on your forums! (NOTE: Some data may not be available for some users)

Automatically befriend user's friends
If any of the user's friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends!

I fought the use of Facebook long and hard. So much silly drivel on there. But with four, yes four, teenage girls I really didn't stand much chance did I...

I work away from home allot too so it's been a good way to stay in touch. I'm kind of a picture freak on there and do allot more of that then commenting on so and so's daily life drama. Probably posted over 500 pictures of driving the Alaska haul road now and will be posting allot of the Amphicar as it goes together the next few months.
