great weekend

Hope everyone had a safe trip home. It was a great weekend, sunny,
warm, and lots of fun. It was an enjoyable way to bring June to a
close after having a flooded month! Five cars took the senic route
to Milwaukee and put in at McKinley marina. After crusing around the
marina we went through the break waters and crused up the Milwaukee
river through downtown Milwaukee. When we returned to the house, we
were glad to find Dave & family were waiting. Actually not waiting -
-I think Dave had already taken advantage of the boat ramp in the
yard to satisfy his Amphi's water craving. In the evening we
cruised downriver from our house to watch the local fireworks on the
river. We watched the fireworks with extinguishers ready because we
were right under them! Since the floods had taken out the dam
warning bouys and cable, they felt it necessary to cancel the
venitian boat parade. That was disapointing but understandable.
Dave, really glad you were able to make it and hope you found it
worth while. Hope the earthquake didn't shake you guys up too much.

We'll put pictures in the files.

As for the oops car, it was really a joke Nick pulled on the
neighbors during the flood. He had them thinking that we had a sink
hole in the yard. One even thought they broke it in half when they
tried to pull it out! It is now a grill on the deck, complete with
radio, headlights, marine lights and horn (all working).

Sorry, but I am still not understanding the entire joke. I saw the
Oops photo. Are you saying that this was a parts car that you had
previously made into a BBQ grill but tossed it in the water for the
photo opportunity???

Please explain -- partly becasue if that is true, that is super cool
that you have an Amphicar BBQ grill!!!

no floods
no sink holes
virtually no rivers
hardly ever even rains!
