Great Amphicar Garage Lift

Hi,
I got a call today from the guy who designed and builds one of my favorite Amphicar tools. It's a lightweight, rather portable lift that will lift the entire car and makes lubrication and wheel related servicing much easier.

Since business is slow right now he has agreed to a volume buyer deal through a web site that's new to me. The web page for this is: EZCARLIFT (Group Buy # 229) - GotoGroupBuy.com - GotoGroupBuy.com

These lift normally sell for $1800 to $2000 so this is quite a deal even if the group buy doesn't get much larger. No hydraulics and it rolls around easily when lowered. It needs a pretty powerful drill to do the lifting but I can recommend one for you that doesn't cost too much.

Enjoy,

Hi John,
This looks like a great lift at a great price. The only questions that I would have are as follows:
1) Does it include the center section and motorcycle clamp vice, and if not, how much more does this cost.
2) Does it include the larger casters for rolling it around the shop, and if not, how much more do these cost.
3) While a drill drive may be advantageous to those without power or air, I would prefer an air powered, or electric motor onboard the lift. Are these options available, and if so, how much additional.
4) Finally, If the lift is sold without a power drive of any sort, this may explain the price difference. Has anyone found alternatives with the drive on board, and determined how much additional they would cost.
Thanks,
Chas

Kind of looks like what others would describe as a "Motorcycle Lift". There are a number of these at Greg Smith Equipment for less money with more options:
Motorcycle Lifts - Greg Smith Equipment Sales, Inc
It may also be a scissor lift similar to this one:
Pro6MR Portable Scissor Lift - Greg Smith Equipment Sales, Inc

I purchased my own 4-post lift from Greg Smith Equip and have been very happy with both the lift and the service provided by the company. I set it up with tow rolling jacks so that I can have all four wheel off the ground if desired. Most of the time I park one of my cars right on it. I could park one car up and one under but this will require having my garage door retracked to go all the way to the ceiling, something I have not yet done.

Hello,

You guys are talking "apples and oranges" here. How can you compare a 4 post lift with something as small and light as this? Having the power unit built in just makes the whole thing heavier and larger. Collapsed, this unit is only about 3 inches high, weighs about 150 lb and it rolls around the garage on it's own casters. The power drill I use costs about $80. To each his own but I didn't want something that eats my entire garage space and a lift that I could roll away when I need to use the center floor area for some other project. Also anything with built in power will require some hydraulics or electrical lines going to it. Just something to trip over when walking around the car. Normally I just park my Amphicar over it. Again, to each his own but I love it.

His regular website is: EZ CAR LIFT - FREE-STANDING USE-ANYWHERE CAR LIFT! FAST. SAFE. STRONG. EASY.

The first two links provided are very similar to the one you described (scissor style lifts). The 2nd one does include an electric motor so you do not need a drill as a power supply.

Mike,

The second one I've seen and it's much larger and heavier than the EZcarlift. I don't want the attached power module taking up space either because I use my garage for other activities too.
