Last night, a friend of mine decided to Google my un-listed phone
number......google found it under the Amphicar club 2003 member
roster. Does anyone know how to keep this from being available to
anyone who wants to Google my name? I have an unlisted phone number
because you can't imagine how many drug seeking people would call me
at any hour they choose! Thank goodness they haven't figured out this
Google thing!!!

Keith,

As far as I know the IAOC member roster has
never been on a public domain and will never
be on one during my time at the helm (2005-2006).
I'm sure Marc S. can attest to how we are
overly causious not to give out member info
to anyone unless we first personally check
with the individual member beforehand...
(Marc, please back me up here mate). Keith,
I'm not questioning your friend's Google
resulsts finding an old 2003 member roster,
but I must clarify that I would NEVER ever
publish personal member information - NEVER!
And I'm willing to bet Marc didn't either.
Anyone know how this might have happened?

I have found the link (leak) in amphicar.com and
have requested our webmaster to disable it
as soon as possible. My apologies to anyone
who may have been spammed by this instance.

OK...Everyone can just relax. No Matthew Broderick look-alike has h^c|<ed our website, nor eventhe fearsome militant digital wing ofCABOOL ("CArs Belong Only On Land"). The simple fact of the matter is that on March 17th, probably as a consequence ofthe site's recent server hiccup or the annual change in username and password, Google's robotswandered through thesite aimlessly indexing whatever they found. The normal password protections were somehow in disarray, so they wandered into the "Members Only /goodies/ subdirectory and indexed its contents, as they are wont to do.
<font size="2"></font>
Atthe current Club webmaster Cap'n John's request, I have investigated and corrected the matter, and also submitted removal requests toGooglefor all items it indexed fromthe normally-blocked 'Members Only' subdirectory, so it should all should be well ithin 24 hours...probably sooner.
