In case anyone needs to test their generator or regulator, here's some tips.

Testing Lucas Generator
D to regulator D (big one)
F to regulator F

Disconnect both terminals D & F.
Connect both terminals D & F together with jumper wire.
Hook voltmeter to terminals & ground.
Volts should rise as RPMs increase.

Testing Lucas Regulator RB106/2 12v
A1 from starter solenoid
A from ignition
F from generator F
D from generator D (big one)
E to ground (earth)

Off vehicle:
12v-16v from D to E should make right cut-out coil close (or at least
move)
12v-16v from F to E should make left regulator coil close (or at least
move)
When touching a 12v battery charger to F & D, there should be a spark.
If not, try cleaning points on regulator (left) coil.

On vehicle:
Unhook big red A1 & A from regulator & hook them together.
Put voltmeter on D & E (on regulator) or D (on generator) & ground.
It should read 15v-16v.

Till later.....

Here's a procedure I cam up with the test the generator & regulator while in
the car.

Testing Lucas Generator
D to regulator D (big one)
F to regulator F

Disconnect both terminals D & F.
Connect both terminals D & F together with jumper wire.
Hook voltmeter to terminals & ground.
Volts should rise as RPMs increase.

Testing Lucas Regulator RB106/2 12v
A1 from starter solenoid
A from ignition
F from generator F
D from generator D (big one)
E to ground (earth)

Off vehicle:
12v-16v from D to E should make right cut-out coil close (or at least
move)
12v-16v from F to E should make left regulator coil close (or at least
move)
When touching a 12v battery charger to F & D, there should be a spark.
If not, try cleaning points on regulator (left) coil.

On vehicle:
Unhook big red A1 & A from regulator & hook them together.
Put voltmeter on D & E (on regulator) or D (on generator) & ground.
It should read 15v-16v.

Okay, I'll try to figure that out and give it a try. I'm a Delco-Remy guy. This Lucas - grd stuff just scrambles my grey cells.
