Hello

I live in Costa Rica. My boss has two amphicars,
1985, RMA.

Where can I find spare parts. I think the head
gaskets are burned. There is oil in the water.

Regards

Nancy

Hello Nancy,

You can get just about anything you need for the Amphicar from Gordon
Imports in California. The number is 714-523-3512. There are some
other sources which you can find under the classifieds at
http://www.amphicar.com although Gordon Imports is the largest
provider. The complete upper gasket kit was on sale for $55.70
through 19 July. Not sure if they are on sale this month as I have
not received the new sales flyer yet. :-(

Nancy:

1985 Amphicar?!
And what's "RMA"

Most Amphis have the Triumph 1147cc GB engine, quite similar to the GA engines
on the early Spitfires and the Heralds. Parts are not exactly as plentiful as
for a small-block Chevy, but still readily available. Gasket sets sometimes show
up on eBay. Set up a permanent eBay search for "triumph 1147".

Ed,

Nancy is referring to a 1985 Amphi-Ranger which was built
by a company called RMA in Germany. Production ceased approx.
ten years ago. If I'm not mistaken, at one time this vehicle
belonged to Mike Grace, unless there are two Amphi-Rangers
in Costa Rica (unlikely).

There are 2 Amphi Rangers in C R
The second (white) one was bought from Jos from Belgium 4 or 5 year ago.

Re: Re: gasket??

Hans, you are wrong, Jos AR is still in Belgium doing service for a harbour
company. Both CR ARs are from Germany. I know first hand, because I have
forwarded the deals to the CR buyer.

Nothing new then. ;-)

Aah, that AR went to Silt that later became Decloedt
and think that is now Medida Hydrographic Services.

Then Jos his old AR is in the photo on the amphiciclopy. :)

Yes, my mind has now been refreshed. <g>
I had heard about Amphi-Rangers when I was researching getting an Amphi. But
since I settled on an Amphicar, my interest has been so focused that I forgot
all about the A-R's.
