Subject: Amphicar wanted
Hello all,
A little intoduction as I'm sure you have seen people's "Amphicar
wanted" post 1000 times.
I am a long time Amphicar fan living in Maine.
I am now at the point where I can look for an Amphicar project. I own
a Land Rover
restoration shop in Maine:
http://www.eastcoastrover.com
I tell you this so that you understand that I know all about rust,
restoration and the scope
of rebuilding a car... what it takes in time and money.
I just completed a Meyers Manx dune buggy build up. You can see that here:
http://www.manxter2plus2.com/MXTR009.html
My dream Amphicar is next...
but there is one small glitch... I do
not own an Amphicar.
So I am looking to purchase one. I have the ability to bring one back
into swimming
condition so I would like to do that. As nice as the restored ones I
see for sale on line are, I
rather bring one back and make it 100% again vs. just buying one that
is already done.
That also helps me spread out the costs over time. For some reason
getting one back into
shape means more to me. It is a sickness I guess.
So on to the point. I am looking for an Amphicar project. A complete,
or near complete
project car. Rust is a given, but hopefully it won't too bad. If you
have an Amphicar you
would like to see restored please email me, it will be going to a good home.
The car would not be built for resale either. This is a long time
dream of mine. Once
completed I would have no intention of selling the car. I'd like to
make it part of my family
and hand it over to my
son in time.
Sorry to be long winded, but I wanted to explain myself a little in
hopes that some
wonderful person will help me locate the perfect Amphica starting point.
You can reach me at ecrover@midcoast.com
Thank you all very much,
Mike Smith

ECR emails are for information exchange only, they are not quotes or
estimates. All work at ECR is done on a time and materials basis.
Install costs and overall project costs can not be given as used and
vintage vehicles vary greatly in condition.
